Social Media is a blessing or a curse

Social media

Introduction

Social media has been around for years now, and it's a part of our daily lives. We use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat to keep in contact with others. Social media helps socialize, but it's not everyone’s cup of tea. Here's what I found to be the main culprits behind my negativity on social media.

1. Privacy:

When you click on someone's post, their post appears everywhere else, and your privacy gets compromised. You never know who they are and how much information about them you are sharing. It may seem like a big deal when I first heard this but it can be very dangerous if you're young. If you have friends that don't follow the rules, then all this information could be shared at any time because they may not see it or know about it. A great example would be your friend's house, where there is video evidence of the last party that was attended by you.

2. Comments:

I'm guilty of clicking on comments on a friend's page. All I want is to find out what a person is thinking, who they are, and whatever they think of me. But I don't care. My ego often takes over and I get carried away and comment on everything. asking people why they are going to do something, making some serious statements, and even saying things people wouldn't like.

3. Misunderstandings:

I have seen times when people mistake the picture for someone else's. and sometimes it's too small for anyone to believe. I have seen people try hard to tell someone what they were thinking in real life.

4. Controlling how we view ourselves:

People are always trying to convince others of what they are or how they should be. Sometimes you need to make yourself smaller. If people judge you, make sure to ask for help. You don't want to stand out, but you still need to work on being better. Most people aren't the best at giving help.

5. Our culture

From religion to music culture, people have the right to express themselves. Everyone should have an opinion. So people have a responsibility to talk about what they think without judging you because you do different things.

6. Emotions:

There's nothing wrong with having emotions. Don't forget to show them when you feel like that. The only thing you should control is how you express yourself. Not everyone will like you or respect you, but you will love them if you can.

7. We are obsessed with status:

This isn't the best place to be in the world. Nobody cares about what we do. So when people see someone successful it is like the light comes on another day. No need for a celebrity either. Just be happy wherever you are. Nothing more to it than that. Being famous isn't the main focus.

8. Ineffective communication:

Communication is the key. We only share a few words which can change the whole story. If you want others to listen then go for the jugular. I don't care what your age is or what you have achieved. Try to have effective communication with each other and don't let anything get in your way. Trust is crucial.

10. Lack of motivation:

Having a goal and feeling motivated are important. You work harder to achieve it and that makes you feel good. Even though the achievement might not come quickly, you'll be happy when you reach your target.
